IVAN KOLMAN
Born 18.2.1944 in Prague
1962-68 studies at VŠUP atelier of Prof. Libensky – glass
1967 studies at Royal College of Art in London
1980 studies in Great Britain
At the time being he is living and working in Liberec, Bohemia.
He focuses mainly on work with flat glass which he cuts by wedge cutting and then sandblasts.
The cut reliefs are adjusted on an opposing dark background to enhance the silken dim wedge cuts.
Some large panels for architecture have also been done by this technique.
Awards:
- 1989 Creator of an original gift for Pope John Paul II.on behalf of the Czech Republic
- 1984 Frauenau, Germany – awarded by their diploma for his oeuvre
